Battle in the Deeps; Part Two - Goblins and Prowlers

"They are coming!"

My second batch of Goblins is complete, giving me a total of 16 Goblins now. The prowlers are repaints (again), but the Goblins are new. I finished them earlier today, but started them before I went on holiday. First, pics of the recent batch, then a couple of group pics of all 16.

The Ride of the Rohirrim Part Six - Elfhelm Finished

'Ahead nearer the walls Elfhelm's men were among the siege-engines, hewing, slaying, driving their foes into the fire-pits.'

Here is Elfhelm, now finished, giving me two Heroes of Rohan. The socks on the horse were an experiment, as was the different shade of green on the cloak.

Battles in the Deeps; Part One - Cave Troll and Goblins

'There was a blow on the door that made it quiver; and then it began to grind slowly open, driving back the wedges. A huge arm and shoulder, with a dark skin of greenish scales, was thrust through the widening gap. Then a great, flat, toeless foot was forced through below. There was a dead silence outside.'

My main project is my Goblins and Dwarves, which I have titled Battles in the Deeps. First up is a Cave Troll and Goblins. The Cave Troll is one of my older models, but I repainted it recently, and the Goblins were bought recently, except for the prowler, which is also a repaint (I'd like to thank Coen on TLA for the armour inspiration). The Host of Erebor

So here is my Dwarf army, in all of it's glory (you can click the images to make them larger). There's about 1,400 points of painted Dwarves there, and does not include Durin or Mardin I have around 50 Dwarves still unpainted, which I think will bring the total around 2,000 points. Now to find a time to use them all...

The Ride of the Rohirrim Part Five - Éowyn finished

"But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him."

The Ride of the Rohirrim Part Four - Captain, Hornblower and Banner Bearers

"Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?

Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?"

Here we have my converted Rohan captain, and my mounted Rohan Hornblower. I took the axe from my Eowyn conversion and gave it to handless Rider of Rohan, as well as sculpting some horsehair coming out of his helmet. For the Hornblower, I sculpted a horn and added that to the model, as well as sculpting some horsehair.

The first Banner Bearer (on the left) is the Rider of Rohan with Throwing Spear, with a simple banner sculpted onto the spear (a triangle of Green Stuff, wrapped around the spear). The second Banner Bearer (right) started life as a Rider of Rohan with Bow. The banner was made in the same way as the first, and his right hand was replaced with that of Éowyn's, as she is now headless. The spear which the banner is attached to was originally a spare spear from the Warrior of Minas Tirith, with some Green Stuff added to make it look more like those carried by the Rohirrim (it has been "trimmed" since the photo was taken).

So there we go, four very simple conversions from the Riders of Rohan box set and Green Stuff (plus the spare spear/sword)

Durin and Dwarf Command

I've finished some more Dwarves for the army painting challenge, plan on getting through another 16 this month, leaving me with the Dwarves with Two-handed axes to do, and a few with shields or bows. As always, click to make the images larger.
